The BORT locomotive traffic safety system in the Kyrgyz Republic
The scope of application of the BORT locomotive traffic safety system on the mainlines of the Kyrgyz Republic has expanded. Starting September 15, 2025, specialists from TransEngineeringSystem LLP, with the participation of representatives from Transtelesoft LLP and the Bishkek locomotive depot, began work on installing and commissioning BORT locomotive safety system kits on TE33A-series diesel locomotives.

The BORT locomotive traffic safety system is a new product created by Transtelesoft, part of the TMH-Intelligent Systems group. It is used on locomotives, electric trains, and diesel trains to monitor train movement and prevent accidents.

The BORT system complies with the requirements of Customs Union Technical Regulation TR TS 001/2011 and is designed to ensure traffic safety and improve the efficiency of traction rolling stock. Its development achieved the main goal — creating not just a safety device, but a foundational digital platform capable of integrating with the complex of digital systems on a locomotive, as well as with modern infrastructure-based microprocessor train movement control systems.
The onboard hardware-software complex is built on modern high-performance and reliable components. The system operates by analyzing incoming data from sensors and vigilance control handles, as well as satellite navigation antennas, which allows it to determine movement parameters, calculate the currently permitted speed, and much more. The main operating cycle for exchanging and processing all information is approximately 250 milliseconds.

The system's innovative nature is confirmed by the use of more compact circuitry than before, with greater functional capabilities. This allows various subsystems to be integrated into a single complex, reducing the number of power stabilizers, switches, computers, monitors, keyboards, and sensors. This approach has helped reduce the failure rate and the amount of electronic equipment on the locomotive, while improving the ergonomics of the driver's cab and the working conditions of the locomotive crew.

The BORT system received a warm welcome at the Bishkek locomotive depot, where training sessions and briefings were held for service, decoding, and operations specialists.

On the first locomotive, TE33A 0179, tests were successfully carried out from September 19 to 20, 2025, according to the approved methodology, along with a commissioning trip on the Bishkek–Turksib section, and the BORT system was put into permanent operation.

Following the equipping of TE33A-series diesel locomotives, work has begun on surveying the 2TE10M series for equipping it with the BORT system, in order to improve traffic safety and the operational efficiency of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu's locomotives.
