The "Bort" Locomotive Safety System for the KZ8A

The "Bort" locomotive safety system is being installed on KZ8A electric locomotives — a powerful dual-section AC mainline electric locomotive with asynchronous traction motors, manufactured using Alstom technology at the EKZ Elektrovoz kurastyru zauyty LLP plant in the industrial park of Astana.

The KZ8A is a dual-section AC freight electric locomotive with asynchronous traction motors, intelligent control, and an automatic train operation system, which until recently was equipped with the KLUB-U safety system. Starting from locomotive No. 0105, the KZ8A is equipped with the more modern "Bort" safety system, featuring an LCD display, touch control, and support for integrating all digital devices on the locomotive and digital train traffic control systems, including interval regulation, including via the industrial Ethernet interface. Electric locomotive KZ8A 0105 has passed all factory tests and will soon enter service at the Astana depot, where the KZ4AT 0040 passenger electric locomotive — also equipped with the "Bort" LSS developed by the Russian company Transtelesoft LLC, with production localized in the Republic of Kazakhstan at the production site of the Kazakhstani partner Transtelesoft LLP — is already racking up thousands of kilometers of mileage.

The "Bort" LSS has been approved for wide-scale implementation across the entire locomotive fleet of NC KTZ JSC.
